Student Experience Student Experience Action Fund

Introducing the Student Experience Action fund

Empowering Students to Enrich the FSE Community

The Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Student Experience Action Fund (SEAF) is now entering its third year, continuing to offer students the opportunity to improve the university experience for themselves and their peers. Open to all taught FSE students, including those on the Foundation Studies programme, the fund provides grants ranging from £50 to £250 for projects and events designed to enhance community, collaboration and wellbeing within the faculty.

Since its launch, the fund has enabled several successful student-led initiatives, including a creative embroidery experience, and networking events, all of which have brought students together in inclusive and engaging ways. The fund encourages both individuals and established student groups to apply, and the application process is straightforward, with support available from the Faculty Student Success and Development Team.

To be eligible, projects must benefit at least five FSE students, demonstrate value for money, and foster lasting impact and community. Equality, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility are essential considerations for all proposals. Applications are reviewed by a panel of staff and a student representative, with four opportunities to submit each academic year.

We encourage academics to share information about the SEAF with students and to support them in developing ideas that can make a real difference to our faculty community. For more details or to discuss a potential application, contact the team at FSEteachingcollege@manchester.ac.uk.
